Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you're well.
This week has felt like a very long week. I'm not sure how we've managed to pack so much into 5 days. The high temperatures have challenged us all, but we've adapted and ensured our learning continues.
Apologies for the change in INSET Day dates for 2025-2026. I was clearly too eager to get back to school in September. I identified Tuesday 2nd September as the first day back in Hampshire and therefore our Inset Day. However, Wednesday 3rd September is our Inset day. All pupils will return to Danebury on September 4th 2025.
Arbor update, we continue to refine how we use Arbor. Hopefully now, when a child receives a detention, you should receive an email which shows who the detention is from and what it is for, please do let us know if this isn't the case. You may receive notification when your child has used the toilet, the purpose of us doing this is to track how often pupils are leaving lessons. Some pupils have toilet cards and understandably will visit more frequently, however, a small number of using the toilet during each lesson to avoid learning.
Year 11 have completed their GCSE exam season and celebrated the end of their formal education at Norton Park on Thursday night. It was a lovely evening and a privilege to watch the grand arrivals and reminisce with them. They all looked fabulous!
Year 10 have completed the first day of their mocks today, there were a few nerves this morning, but they settled well and gave it their best. As there is a Peter Symonds Taster Day on Tuesday 24th June and a significant number of our pupils have signed up for it, Mocks will resume on Wednesday 25th June.
Year 8 spent today at Sparsholt College learning about the courses on offer and the incredible range of facilities there. As ever, pupils represented the school well and were positive about their day.
Our Transition programme is full steam ahead, we held enhanced transition days this week for a number of our new Year 7s in September, it was lovely to spend time getting to know them. We are really looking forward to our main Transition Day and evening on 30th June 2025 where we will welcome pupils and families.
Good luck to our Year 7 and 8 pupils who are competing at Charlton in the District Athletics event on Tuesday. We look forward to hearing about their successes.
On Wednesday we are hosting The Hampshire Book Awards, good luck to all our pupils involved in this fantastic event.
A polite reminder that we have the last of our INSET Days on Monday 23rd June, we look forward to welcoming our Danebury Community back on Tuesday 24th June in full school uniform.
Have a lovely weekend.
Nicky Goodridge, Head of School
