Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you’ve had a positive week.
Danebury Updates
On Wednesday, we welcomed our Trust School Improvement Review team, who conducted a comprehensive assessment of our progress. Three team members met with Senior and Middle Leaders, examining our Curriculum Intent and its implementation. They observed lessons, spoke with pupils, reviewed our SEND provision, and evaluated our Reading strategies.
The initial feedback was incredibly positive. Our visitors noted a significant improvement in quality and consistency across the school. Pupils shared how teaching strategies like mini-whiteboards, turn and talk, and visualisers are helping them remember and achieve more. I am looking forward to receiving the written report early this week and will share more details in future newsletters.
As our school continues to grow, we are adapting our staffing model. We are currently seeking an additional Maths teacher – either part-time or full-time. If you know someone who might be interested, please ask them to contact me directly goodridgen@danebury.hispmat.org
As ever, attendance remains at the forefront of our minds. Although attendance has improved significantly over the past term, we still have a dip on Fridays. Please do all you can to ensure your child is in school 5 days a week. The attendance team will be in contact with you to offer support if this is a pattern over time.
Achievements to Celebrate
Year 11 completed their last full set of mock exams before their upcoming GCSE examinations in May. Their maturity and attitude were truly impressive. Exam papers are currently being marked and moderated, with results to be shared later this week.
Year 7 enjoyed a creative morning at the Water Meadows, gaining inspiration for their writing activities. Many thanks to Miss Barton for organising this wonderful experience.
Thursday evening saw our annual GCSE Presentation Evening at St Peter's Church in Stockbridge. Welcoming back our Class of 2025 was a magical moment. The evening was made special by the collective celebration of achievements and hard work. I extend my gratitude to Miss Braidley for organising the event, to Teddy L-C for his beautiful piano performance, and to our PTA and Year 11 Student Leaders for their support.
Year 9 had an inspiring morning with the Royal Armoured Corps, participating in team-building workshops focused on communication and teamwork. The visitors also shared insights into the diverse career opportunities within the Army. Thanks to Mrs Ablett for arranging this informative session.
A special mention to our Danebury PTA for running a stall at the Broughton Village Christmas Fayre – we truly appreciate your continued support. A big 'shout out' to Hebe T for her enterprising spirit in running her own stall!
