Dear Parents and Carers,
As we move into the final stretch of the academic year, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the wonderful things happening across our school and share some important reminders for the weeks ahead.
First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to our Year 11 pupils. Their dedication to their revision and their commitment throughout their examination period has been truly exemplary. The focus, maturity and resilience they have demonstrated is something we should all be immensely proud of. They are representing Danebury with real distinction, and I have every confidence they will achieve great things.
This week has been particularly busy with a range of enriching experiences for our pupils. On Thursday, our Year 10 Geographers had the opportunity to visit Hengistbury Head for their annual field trip. It was wonderful to hear that the weather cooperated, and that pupils were able to engage fully with their learning. During the visit, they were investigating the sphere of influence and exploring the sustainability of the headland – real, practical geography in action. I would like to extend my thanks to Mrs Martin for organising such a valuable experience for our pupils.
Also on Thursday, our Year 9 pupils attended their Sparsholt interviews for the 14-16 Programme. Mrs Collins returned absolutely delighted with the feedback she received about our pupils. She was told quite simply that "Danebury pupils were exceptional." This is exactly what we want to hear. It reflects the calibre of young people we have here and the positive impression they make wherever they go. Well done to all our Year 9s who took part.
On Friday we held a fire evacuation drill at the end of the school day. I am pleased to report that the school was evacuated, and all pupils lined up on the field in silence in under five minutes. This is an impressive achievement and demonstrates that our pupils understand the importance of these procedures and respond with the maturity and responsibility we expect of them. Thank you to all staff and pupils for their cooperation.
As we head towards the end of term, I do need to remind parents and carers about a couple of important matters. Firstly, despite being in the final term of the year, it is essential that all pupils continue to adhere to our full uniform policy. Uniform is an important part of our school identity and helps to foster a sense of belonging and pride in Danebury. I would be grateful if you could reinforce this expectation with your child at home.
Secondly, if your child has not yet signed up to Activities Week on Arbour, please could you encourage them to do so. Activities Week is a highlight of the school calendar and offers pupils a wonderful range of experiences and opportunities. We want to ensure that all pupils are able to participate in something that interests them.
Finally, I wanted to remind you that Stock Fest will be taking place on Friday 22nd May, immediately following our Year 11 Leavers Assembly. This is always a special occasion and a lovely way to celebrate our Year 11 pupils as they prepare to leave us. During Stock Fest, there will be an opportunity for pupils to purchase food, sweets and refreshments. Year 11 parents are very welcome to join us for this event – it is a wonderful chance to be part of the celebration and to wish our leavers well as they embark on the next chapter of their journey.
Thank you for your continued support of Danebury School.
Have a good weekend
