Halloween Disco - Year 7,8, 9

Tickets are available on the door if you haven't bought on Arbor

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you and your families are well.

We've had a very busy week indeed, lots of focused work in lessons and opportunities to learn beyond the classroom.

Our Warhorse trip on Thursday evening was a big hit, pupils have been talking about it all day. The lighting, acting and singing was breathtaking according to the pupils, thank you to Mrs Brush, Mrs Martin and Mrs Ellis for creating this opportunity.

Congratulations to the Year 8 Boys football teams who played brilliantly in the District 5-a-side competition on Wednesday, well done to the A team who beat John Hanson on penalties in the final - Danebury Champions! Many thanks to Mrs Vaughan and Mr S Page for taking the teams.

Well done to the KS3 & 4 Girls Teams who played in the district competitions on Thursday,  great teamwork and fighting spirit shown. Some wins, draws and losses. Thanks to Mr Falkingham for taking them.

Our Year 11s attended a Careers Fair at John Hanson on Wednesday, they were full of inspiration on their return, lots of providers attended the fair and opened our pupils minds to a vast range of opportunities.  Thanks to Mrs White and Mrs Ablett for organising.

Our Year 9s and 10s took part in workshops led by the Hampshire Police Education Team this week, they were taught about the new laws around posting on social media platforms and how to keep safe on-line. The sessions were of an excellent quality, if you get a chance, please have a chat about their learning points.  We have booked the Police to come back in and lead sessions on recognising healthy and unhealthy relationships and the use of discriminatory language, this will enhance what we teach during our Personal Development lessons.

Our Key Stage 3 pupils are excited about the Halloween Disco tonight, many thanks to our wonderful PTA for organising it and creating this opportunity for our pupils, I'm sure the costumes will be awesome, and fun will be had by all. Thanks also to Mrs Collins' husband for being our resident DJ once again! Thanks to Mr Thomas, Mrs Collins, Mrs Cleaver-Bailey and Mrs McArthur for giving up their Friday night!

Next week is equally busy; on Tuesday and Wednesday we have a Trust Review, an excellent opportunity to benchmark our progress against our School Improvement Priorities. I will share the feedback with you once I receive it. We have a number of trips going out next week and the LORIC projects continue.

Year 11 are focused on their up-and-coming Mocks; I hope they are revising hard at home.  They begin on the 4th November, I wish them lots of luck.

Have a good weekend.

Nicky Goodridge, Head of School
