Dear Parent and Carers
I hope all is well with you.
Many thanks for your support with World Mental Health Day on Friday. We managed to raise just under £400 for the YoungMinds charity. This money is enough to train a parent helpline advisor and 5 support workers. In addition, we were gifted a 'Buddy Bench' and flowerpots from M&S. It was lovely to see so many pupils getting involved in the activities at lunchtime. Many thanks to Miss Sandilands for organising the day. We have a number of workshops and guest speakers in school over the next few weeks to further support the mental health of our pupils. In addition, the NHS School Nursing team will be visiting on a regular basis to provide advice and guidance to those who would like additional support.
Our Andover bus service will change providers on Monday 13th October. I have written to parents and carers who have children on this service. Please do check the route (School Transport), there are a couple of minor changes.
As the buses are now arriving at the end of the school day, the bus bays are extremely busy. A few weeks ago, I asked parents and carers who pick their children up to use our top car park (at the top of our drive by the field), as opposed to collecting from the bus bays. This is due to congestion, the children's safety and buses not being able to leave swiftly. I really need your support with this; there are too many cars picking up and blocking the buses from moving around the turning circle. I have asked staff to park on the top field to ensure there are now 2 car parks for you to pick up from. This should provide ample space. If you are asked to move on, please do not be offended, the safety of our children is our priority.
KS3 have now completed their CATs and GL Assessments. These were all completed online, the behaviour and effort of our pupils was excellent throughout. These test both current and future academic potential in pupils, helping to better inform teachers on how to improve planning to personalise learning.
Our wonderful PTA are holding the annual Broughton Jumble Sale on Saturday 11th October 2–4 pm at Broughton Village Hall, please do go along and support. Last year, the PTA raised a significant amount of money and were able to purchase new visualisers for staff to ensure they can model more effectively in lessons. In addition, they continue to help subsidise our breakfast club, ensuring all pupils can access a free breakfast every day. A huge thank you goes to our wonderful PTA for their support.
We have worked hard to ensure our uniform policy is adhered to once again this week. Standards of uniform across the school have been much better this week. In addition, there have been fewer pupils finding excuses to leave lessons, our whole school positive to negative behaviour points ratio has hit 98% and attendance is within 1% of the national average, which is encouraging. I appreciate your ongoing support with this; we will continue to work closely with parents and carers to ensure we achieve excellent standards in the above.
Our Whole School homework Calendar can be found here ( Whole School Homework Calendar 2025-2026) , this will help pupils to plan their time outside of school more effectively.
Have a lovely weekend.
Warm wishes
Nicky Goodridge
