We are proud to have been part of the NxtGen research project run by Southampton University Students. Danebury pupils took part in the study called 'Healthy Choices Start on the corner'. Here are some of the views and recommendations from the pupils who took part. Many thanks to Southampton University for inviting us to be part of the project!

Beau has been super busy..... Clay pigeon I went up with grandad so we could get a good spot and get the flooring and awning down. It is our closest one, so it was only about an hour and 20 minutes' drive and we had a spot saved next to Sebastian. Dad mum van and fox got there a bit later because dad had to work and then they came up with the caravan. I had an alright sleep and had 5 sessions on the Friday and after the 1st session I was 0. 2 off of my fastest time last which was a 41.4 so I was pretty happy with that. I kept on pushing and at the end of Friday practice I had a good lap time which I was happy with. Saturday, I had 2 qualifiers and 1 race but I had double that because I was doing an extra class. I was struggling to get the times over qualifying and qualified 6th and 9th which I wasn't happy with because I knew I could do better than that. In the class that was mixed there was one person who I was quicker than but just couldn't get by him and it was harder because he was on a 4 stroke. In the normal 50 race I got on better not the best place but done my best lap time which was a 39.9. On Sunday I had 2 warmups and 4 races, and on the first one I had to run the bike in because we had a new piston and piston ring. But then on one part of the track I ran out of road and ran onto the grass and if I rolled I wouldn't stop in time and I would hit the barrier so I purposely pulled the front brake and tucked the front so I wouldn't hit the barrier and it worked I didn't get hurt at all and the bike was fine. I then went out for my second warm up and no crashes that time. My first race was ok and so was my second, I didn't get the best places, but I did match my best time 39.9 so that was good. The next race I had it was with the 4 strokes, and I got a very good start in front of the one I was struggling to get by last time and was running in a good position and then just right in front of me a few laps in someone high sided. I luckily missed it and was far away enough to swerve round and I gained a place because someone almost hit his bike and lost time and places. After that big crash it got red flagged, but what was good is that it didn't take long for them to restart the race and I finished that with an alright position. It was the last race of the weekend, and I got another cracking start into 4th and was following the person in 3rd while getting ready to set a move up. I was making sure I was close to him and then coming out of the last corner he tried to get into his gear the first time and it didn't go into gear and then he tried once more and got into that gear but that lost him time and I had the run on him and I stuck it up on the inside into the fast left and took the final podium spot with a few laps to go. I didn't realise until coming by him he crashed behind me and I went across the line taking 3rd place which I was very happy wit but also because he crashed and the person who got it red flagged crashed, I got 3rd overall and in that last race I got a pb lap time a 39.3. Thanks Beau,

Yesterday we had an artist visit the year 8 classes! Robert Strange brought lots of lovely examples of his work and taught the students how to use the grid method to get the correct proportions in a drawing. We learnt all about his career as a signwriter, a teacher and an artist. Thank you Robert! Instagram: robert_w_strange_artist

Jack, Will & Henry headed to Cobham, Chelsea FC's renowned training ground, yesterday to represent a select squad made up of players identified at a previous tournament hosted by Sparsholt College. The team faced two strong representative sides and delivered an impressive performance, winning both matches. All three boys settled into their roles immediately, adapting quickly to a new group of teammates and building strong partnerships across the pitch. Their teamwork, attitude, and quality on the ball helped the squad perform at a high level throughout the day. A fantastic experience and a great opportunity to showcase their talent in a professional football environment. Mr Thomas #teamdanebury #daneburyschool

    Testimonials

  • I just wanted to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you for supporting and making my child's transition to Danebury school so faultless.
My child joined a week before summer holidays. Prior to her joining Danebury she was in a very unhappy place at school, upset , anxious, spending her break times alone in the toilets and missing lessons.
Since joining the Danebury she is happy , chatting smiling and enjoying school. She comes out of school smiling and happy and has made some really wonderful new friends who have been so lovely at including her it feels like she’s always been at the school.

So thank you for turning my child’s school life around she actually looks forward to school and doesn’t dread it anymore. She’s very happy and as a mum that’s all we want for our children. I have already recommended Danebury school to people I know and I will continue to do so.

  • Hi, I'm Makayla, I would love to share a part of my journey throughout Danebury with you.
Danebury has been through so many changes (for the better), immensely empowering every student and allowing them to exceed expectations.
Luckily, Danebury's new changes have encouraged me into becoming the person I am today! Unfortunately, during the beginning of my journey throughout Danebury, I immensely struggled meeting my potential.
I suffered from anxiety which stopped me from attending school and my lessons.
However, a colossal amount of encouragement from staff has led me into attending school every day, attending my lessons and achieving admirable grades in my mocks. Compounded by tremendous offers from colleges such as FRA (fashion retail college) in London.
I am endlessly appreciative of those who supported me throughout school, and I will never forget those who have shaped me into who I am today.

  • I am so glad that I have stayed with this school, I can fully appreciate how the quality of teaching has improved and how much safter I feel with teachers. I now enjoy coming into Danebury and feel like I will be fully prepared to leave with skills I have learned here from PSHE lessons and the LORIC program

  • “Danebury school has improved so much as they have communicated and listened to students more since Mrs Goodridge has joined and she has found ways to apply it to our time at school so we are happy and enjoy our time here”

    Alisa

  • "Danebury school has improved in the academic game for all years throughout the school, much support is placed through our school and as we hope it will keep growing and expanding along with our Danebury family. After our school’s "rebirth" the effort Mrs Goodridge has put into creating a kind diverse economy here at Danebury and so far has succeeded. We really do thank Mrs Goodridge for improving our school massively and not just a learning environment but a little Danebury family.
