Transport to School

All pupils

Applications for assistance with travel to mainstream schools can be made to Hampshire School Transport via the Education Online Portal.

This is the same Portal families use to apply for a school place via the County Council’s Admissions service. Paper forms may still be available on request.  Although the process by which families apply for transport has changed, there are no changes to the County Council’s Home to School Transport Policy. Therefore, the qualifying criteria to be eligible for assistance with travel remain unchanged.

You can also find out further information in regard to the County Council’s Home to School Transport Service, and the Home to School Transport Policy on the School Transport pages. Please be aware of the Code of Conduct to which pupils and parents agree when they use this transport.

Privilege Bus Seats - Hampshire School Transport

Hampshire County Council provides contracted school buses or taxis for most pupils who are entitled to help with travel. Pupils who are not entitled to help may apply to use spare seats on these contracted vehicles; these are called ‘privilege’ places.

Important Information

Should an incident occur during the journey to or from school, pupils should always follow the instructions of the driver. If asked to remain on the coach/minibus it is important they do until directed otherwise. If asked to wait in an identified safe place nearby, again it is important they do so until given further instructions. This is to ensure all pupils can be accounted for and kept safe until any issues are resolved for the journey to continue or alternative arrangements are made.
