Learning at Danebury Autumn Term 1!

🌍🎉 European Day of Languages at Danebury! 🎉🌍

What a fun day of languages, flags and European flair! 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇸🇮🇹🇪🇺

Our pupils and staff have been saying hello in different languages throughout the day — Bonjour! Hallo! Hola! Ciao! 👋🗣️

At break, things got even more colourful with boules, flag face painting and plenty of smiles! 🎨🥳 We loved seeing pupils getting involved and celebrating the amazing variety of languages and cultures around us.

This morning, Mrs Knight led a KS3 assembly exploring why learning languages is so important and how speaking another language can open doors to new people, places, cultures and opportunities. 🌎🚪✨

A huge merci beaucoup and danke schön to everyone who helped make our European Day of Languages such a success! ❤️

Language learning empowers, enriches and opens doors! 🌍💬✨

📚✨ Learning how we learn!

A big thank you to Mrs Collins for leading our KS3 assembly this morning, exploring how our Danebury Teaching & Learning Principles help pupils to learn and retain knowledge without cognitive overload.

We were so impressed to see pupils confidently explaining how their teachers help them learn during a ‘Do Now’ mini-whiteboard task. 🧠✏️

A brilliant example of our pupils thinking about not just what they learn, but how they learn! 🌟

In  LORIC Team building, they were given the challenge to build a tower which was able to withstand objects of different sizes and weights. Including a giant rubber duck!

They made some very sturdy structures. Almost all of them held all the objects without falling!

Our science department are loving the new tables and chairs!

Thank you to Stephanie from Hampshire Police for coming in this morning to talk to our year 7s and 8s about cyber bullying. If you would like help or support, please talk to any member of staff or visit https://www.hampshire-pcc.gov.uk/.../safer-social-online for more information

There has been lots of learning in our Food Tech Department.....

It was a pleasure to pop into some Year 7 lessons this morning. Our Food group were starting the bread making process.

Yr 10 Hospitality and Catering pupils refined their skills by making fresh pasta.

Yr 11 Hospitality and Catering pupils learnt the difficult skill of spun sugar making. It is very easy to burn the sugar!!
