The Environment LORIC Group spent this afternoon carrying out a litter pick around the school site and within our local community. Not only has this made our environment cleaner, but it has hopefully helped a few wild animals too.
In History this week, year 9 students have been exploring Legacy boxes left behind by our current year 10s after their visit to the Imperial War Museum, part of their year 9 study of the Holocaust.
In the Legacy boxes are a description of an object that represented learning and empathy with persecuted Jews in Nazi occupied Europe. Mia in year 9 made contact with Kaycie-Lea in year 10 to share that she had been given her legacy paper. Year 9 will be looking for the objects identified in their legacy box during their studies this term.
We are very excited that author Kirsty Applebaum is booked to visit Year 7 on World Book Day (Thursday 6th March). More details will follow soon with information on purchasing books to be signed.
We are now using Educake to set homework in lots of subjects across the school.
Educake enables us to provide you with an easy-to-access and useful platform where you can complete your quizzes designed to support your learning and improve your powerful knowledge.

Over the next few weeks we are gathering feedback from all stakeholders. As ever, pupil, parent and staff voice is vital to our school improvement journey. It will be used to help us strive for excellence in all we do. If you could spare 5 minutes to complete this short survey, (link below) we would be very grateful.
For many, this is an exciting time of the year. However, we know that for some it can be a difficult time.
Please see some useful information below to help you through the holidays:
The LORIC Enterprise group did a fantastic job selling their wares at breaktime on Wednesday. There was a real bustle in the gym with lots of pupils visiting the "market place".
Approximately £190 in profit was made. This money will go back into funding LORIC and supporting the PTA
We have had several reports of headlice in school recently. Could we please ask that you check your child's hair (particularly if it is a bit itchy in the evenings) and treat them accordingly. Hopefully, we can get rid of them over the break!
Also, if you still have any ties that your child has borrowed, please purchase them on Arbor.
Thank you so much for all the lovely cards and gifts. We really do appreciate them!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
